Thursday, February 15          The Big Read                                 7 pm
Their Eyes Were Watching God. by Zora Neale Hurston

The library joins with the Hartford Public Library for region-wide readings and talks.  Professor Kerry Driscoll, of Saint Joseph College will lead the discussion here at Avon in the Community Room.

Thursday, March 22              Farmington Valley One Book         7pm
Girls of Tender Age by Mary-Ann Tirone Smith

The Avon Library, along with Burlington, Canton, Framington, Granby and Simsbury libraries, will host a series of book discussions about this memoir with a local setting.  Professor Aimee Pozorski, of Central Connecticut State University will lead the discussion.

Thursday, April 19                  Mark Twain Program                   7pm

Richard Clarke returns in the guise of Mark Twain for an evening of readings and fun.  Come celebrate National Library Week with this most humorous writer.

Friday, April 20                      Poetry Reading                            7 pm

Join us for an entertaining night of poetry.  Ravi Shankar, Poet-in-Residence at Central Connecticut State University and author of Instrumentality,  and Clare Rossini, Visiting Professor at Trinity College and author of Lingo, which includes poems about Hartford. 

Tuesday, April 24                   Author Appearance                      7 pm

Mary-Ann Tirone Smith will read and give a talk about her memoir Girls of Tender Age at the Avon Senior Center.

Thursday, May 17                   Read a Classic                              7 pm
Swann’s Way by Marcel Proust

Professor Laurence Petit, Central Connecticut State University, will lead a discussion of the classic French novel.
