Farmers Market

3/3/21 Announcement about the summer 2021 farmers market

The Covid-19 pandemic has prompted the Avon Library to change how it delivers service over the past year; we have adapted programs and services, pivoting as needed so that everything is delivered in a safe manner. Throughout these changes, the health of our patrons, volunteers, and staff has been our number one priority. We continue to strive to fulfill our community’s needs with a variety of programming, delivered in a manner designed to meet the ever-changing scope of the Covid-19 pandemic.

While we hope to begin restoring more in-person activities in 2021, there is still a great deal of uncertainty ahead, limiting the ability to plan more than a month or two in advance.  Unfortunately, this has led to the difficult decision to retire the current farmers market at the Avon Library.

Thank you for being part of multiple summers at our market! 31,471 people have visited Avon Library’s farmers market over its seven in-person summers. We hope last summer’s virtual market encouraged visits to our local farms and farm stands. We want to thank all of the farmers and vendors who participated in the market, as well as our other community partners: Avon Volunteer Fire Department, Farmington Valley Health District, AHS Drama Club, and the Town of Avon.

We will miss seeing you all in the parking lot this summer, but do hope we see you online at our virtual programs, at the curbside pickup table, or in the library (masked, of course!) for our open browsing hours.
