Historic Photo Exhibit of Avon, The Hadsell Brothers: Avon in Photographs and Words 1899-1919

View historic photographs that captured Avon’s people, places and events of the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit features sixty photographs of old Avon taken by Clinton B. Hadsell, accompanied by excerpts from the diaries of his brother, Frank M. Hadsell. Through the eyes and ears of these remarkable brothers, we’re able to catch a glimpse of the spirit and individuality of the early residents of Avon. The exhibit is on display from October 10, 2017 to November 29, 2017 during regular library hours in the Library’s gallery hall. The public is invited to the exhibit’s Opening Reception on Saturday, October 7, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
The photos and diaries are treasures of the Avon Library’s Marian Hunter History Room which is dedicated to the preservation of local history. The exhibit is sponsored by the Avon Public Library and the Avon Historical Society, financial support is provided by Avon MotoPhoto.
