Putting the Garden to Bed – What’s Needed, What’s Not

Thursday, September 26, 2024; 2 – 3 pm

In-Person; Library Community Room

Winter is coming; a time to relax with garden catalogs and plan for next year. What’s needed in your garden NOW to prepare for the quiet months? How best to be ready for next year’s growing season? And, does the garden ever really “shut down”? We’ll discuss best management practices to keep the garden healthy and improve the soil for next season. We’ll also look at extending your garden season through the fall and into the winter.

Sarah Bailey is a Certified Advanced Master Gardener and a Connecticut Certified Horticulturalist. She has worked in the horticultural industry for the last three decades as, variously, a retail nursery manager, a private gardener and garden designer, and a consultant for several landscape firms. She is the Hartford County coordinator for the UConn Extension Master Gardener Program, having recently retired from the state coordinator position. She has served on the Board of Directors of the CT Horticultural Society and currently serves on the education committees of both the CT Horticultural Society and the CT Nursery and Landscape Association and is an instructor for the Connecticut Certified Horticulturalist certification.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Please register so we can set the community room up with appropriate seating.
