Thursday, 5/8/25: Trumbo, 2015. Directed by Jay Roach. Bryan Cranston sparkles as the writer Dalton Trumbo. One of the Hollywood Ten, he was blacklisted and spent 11 months in prison for his political beliefs during the McCarthy era.. View the trailer here
Thursday, 5/15/25: The Human Stain, 2003. Directed by Robert Benton. Based on the Philip Roth novel, Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman are electrifying in this film that explores racism, identity and power dynamics in the academic world.. View the trailer here
Wednesday (note different day of the week), 5/21/25: American Fiction, 2023. Directed by Cord Jefferson. Based on the novel Erasure by Percival Everett, American fiction features Jeffrey Wright as an African American writer who grows frustrated with the lack of interest in his serious novels and unwittingly figures out a way to break into the Best Sellers list.
