Dr. Sergei Kambalov served in the UN Secretariat for over 20 years. He will share his observations on the current challenges facing the organization:

• The UN seems unable to disarm major persistent international conflicts, nor prevent new ones.
• Is the organization still relevant? Does it deliver value for humanity–and for the United States? Can it be reformed to reflect the realities of today?
• How do we deal with violators of the UN Charter?

Before his retirement in 2011, Dr. Sergei Kambalov served in the United Nations Secretariat for two decades. Prior to joining the UN, he was a First Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and before that, he worked in academic research on international economic relations.  Sergei is a patented inventor. He and his wife Elena live in Oxford Greens; they have four children and nine grandchildren.
